You can get enough sticker action out of a sheet to light up three, four, or even five discs, depending on how many sticker rings you decide to apply to each disc. These are basic sticker rings that can be peeled off and stuck onto any disc to make it into a glowing disc. One of the quick ways to jump into the glow game is to pick up the Glow Tape Rings which are designed just for discs. I since discovered that a few little accessories can get you going at night, even without a slew of discs in glowing plastic. Shop all glow in the dark disc golf discs here. There are usually a good number of glow-in-the-dark plastic blends for popular discs available at any given time. Most of the most popular discs from the top disc golf retailers have glow in the dark versions available. If you get attached to the discs you can also use these discs for day time play. With glow in the dark discs, your favorite discs aren’t encumbered by additional add-ons. Not only did the discs seem like an unnecessary gimmick before my eyes were opened, but I thought it would be a burdensome expense to have to buy all my favorite discs in glow plastic merely to play at night, but that is an option, and arguably the best one if you regularly play disc golf in the dark. There are a lot of discs made in glow plastic, and I never used to think much about them until that first night game. It was a true joy! Glow in the Dark Discs I’d been playing glow disc golf for a few years before somebody finally convinced me that it would be worth visiting the course after dark. Yet there are still a number of players who haven’t tried it. There is room for improvement though, SSD-LED could certainly use a log (to save the data over time), an always on top option for the graph ( PinWin could help with this), and maybe a tooltip which displays the stats when you mouse over it.There is a side to disc golf that many players enjoy immensely and that is the joy of playing the game at night. But SSD-LED can be a light-weight and practical way to monitor your usage. You could of course use programs like CrystalDiskInfo to get more details about your SSD to check if the performance of your Solid State Drive has degraded. OEM applications like Samsung Magician, Kingston SSD Manager are obviously better for checking the health of your drives (and to keep the firmware up-to-date). The download is available from the bin/release webpage at the repository. SSD LED is open source, and you can find the source code on the official GitHub page. But since the double click method works, it is not an issue. Note: I couldn't get the preferences window to pop-out from the right-click menu. To close the application, right-click on the tray icon and select exit. The config file is stored in the Users folder at C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\SSD_LED\. Use the Save config option to preserve any changes that you have made to the program's settings. The indicator button in the Settings screen flashes when the usage is higher than normal. Enabling this allows you to select the drive that you wish to monitor. The only other option that is available on this page is the "Choose drive to monitor" setting. The other slider is for the refresh interval in ms (milliseconds), i.e., the time between checks for the read/write speed monitor. The first one is to set the Activity Indicator Threshold/Scaling, which reads the maximum speed of the drive and this is calculated in KB/s. It displays the values in MB/s (Megabytes per second). This screen has a graph that is updated in real-time, and represents the actual read and write performance of the drive. Double-clicking on the icon brings the Preferences window into view. Here's what it looks like.īut the program does more. This indicates the activity of your hard drive. But if you keep a eye on it while using the computer, you will notice that it blinks like a regular hard drive's LED. A dark circular icon should appear on the system tray. The program is portable and is delivered as a 21KB file.ĭownload it and run the executable. SSD-LED is a free program that puts a software-version of the old-school feature on your desktop. One thing that some users may miss in these modern storage devices is the activity indicator. They are faster, less error prone, and, with the exception of price to storage ratio, the better option. Fast-forward to the present, and many users have switched to Solid State Drives.
